Part-Time Youth Ministry Leader

Ayden United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Youth Ministry Leader to serve, lead, teach, mentor and motivate the youth of our church in their walk with God. Primary responsibilities include planning and leading Sunday evening youth fellowship for middle and high school youth, as well as coordinating special youth activities. The Youth Ministry Leader will work collaboratively with the pastor, parents and leadership team to implement a strong and engaging youth program. - Spiritual
- A Youth Ministry leader should not only see themselves as spiritual mentors for teenagers, but as living examples for what a Christian life should be. The leader will be expected to demonstrate the highest level of integrity at all times, whether on the clock as an employee or not.
- Educational
- A Youth Ministry leader will have completed at least her/his sophomore year in college
Objective:
- To serve, lead, teach, mentor, and motivate the youth of Ayden UMC in their walk with God.
- With the support of parents and staff, the Youth Ministry leader will spend the majority of his/her time developing spiritual mentor type relationships in the context of Sunday night programming and one weekly small group or Sunday School class.
Expectations:
- An AUMC Youth Ministry leader will be expected to spend approximately 5 hours per week in the planning and leading of activities.
- The primary responsibility of a AUMC Youth Ministry leader will be the planning and leading of Sunday Night UMYF which may include elements such as group games / crafts / small group discussion / worship / etc.
- The second responsibility of a AUMC Youth Ministry leader will be to help plan for and lead occasional group activities (i.e. chaperone trips, etc.)
- The pastor and youth parents will be available to advise / collaborate with the leader in planning youth group programming and activities, but the leader will have the responsibility of leading and implementing programming on a weekly basis.
- Along with the youth and parents, AUMC Youth Ministry may also help identify and lead service opportunities for the youth.
Organization:
- An AUMC Youth Ministry leader will work under the direct supervision of the Pastor. He/She will be directly accountable to the Pastor and the Leadership Team of the church for his/her performance.
- Oversight will take the form of monthly meetings with the pastor for the purpose of reflecting upon areas of growth within the youth program and identifying and discussing any difficulties or problems.
- An AUMC Youth Ministry leader will participate in Discipleship Team meetings as required and have the opportunity to advise and seek support from the committee regarding youth activities. She/he will also be expected to report on current events and future plans for youth activities.
Compensation:
- An AUMC Youth Ministry leader will earn a yearly salary of $4000 to be paid in 12 monthly increments. No other benefits will be provided. Work space will be made available at the church. A bi-annual evaluation will be performed by the Staff Parish Committee.
