Director of Youth Ministries

The Director of Youth Ministry for Ayden United Methodist Church will be responsible for the planning and development of the youth program, as well as mentoring the spiritual and emotional well-being of the youth involved.

This position reports to, and is responsible, to the Pastor, the Church Council, and the Staff Parish Committee.

Qualifications

• Have a strong Christian belief and sense of enjoying the work.
• Care about young people in the community and bringing them into our church family.
• Have the ability to communicate with youth.
• Be a good listener to the youth
• Be able to harness the potential of the youth for development of their spiritual life that will grow and continue to develop as they continue through life.
• Has adequate educational background for the position.
• Should have the proper license for driving the church bus for youth activities.  The Ayden United Methodist Church will pay the expenses related to the acquisition of this license.

Basic Job Duties

• Serve along with the Pastor and lay leadership as a part of the team to fulfill the youth ministry of the Ayden United Methodist Church.
• Recruit, train, and equip volunteer counselors for the Ayden United Methodist Church youth fellowship.
• Be available at least twenty (20) hours per week for planning and coordinating the youth ministry programs.
• Handle publicity for the youth events in a timely manner.
• Be responsible for overseeing the Sunday, or weekend, youth meetings or ministry, as well as youth service missions, and various youth activities.

Working Conditions
This is a part-time salaried position that requires some flexibility of time.  The salary is to be set by the Finance Committee and the Staff Parish Committee based on experience.  Work space will be provided by the Church.  A bi-annual evaluation will be performed by the Staff Parish Committee.
