Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love to children in desperate situations around the world. Since 1993, more than seventy-seven million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped and delivered across the globe.

Once again, it is time for the members of Ayden UMC to think about preparing our boxes. This is our twelfth year of participation in this ministry which is based right here in our own state. Our total to date is six hundred seventy-six boxes, prepared with love, filled with hopes and prayers that they find their way to the child who needs them most. Your boxes will need to be in the church sanctuary in time for their dedication on Sunday, November 21st. Brochures will be available beginning in mid-October. As always, our hope is for “one more than last year!” Our goal will be eighty-eight.

Christmas Programs Sooner Than You Think

Make plans to join us on December 5th at 10:00 am for our annual children and youth Christmas Program. This is a great way to start your Christmas season. Please make sure that children who would like to be involved are attending Sunday School as we use this time for practice. If you have any questions or would like for your children or grandchildren to be involved, please contact Sara Levin or come to Sunday School and speak to any Children’s Sunday School teacher.

New Youth Director

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce that our church’s Youth Director position has been filled. Adam Guillemette will serve in that capacity. He is certainly enthusiastic about working with our fine young people, and he has already “rolled up his sleeves” to assist the United Methodist Men with the chicken pastry dinner. In addition, he has begun working with some of our youth during the Sunday School hour.

Adam is employed by ViQuest Fitness Center in Greenville and plans to enter East Carolina University in the fall. During our committee’s interview, it was obvious that Adam Guillemette loves the Lord and looks forward to sharing this love with the young people in our church. Please join us in supporting Adam and his involvement with the youth program at Ayden United Methodist Church!
